Doctor Birchmeier of Brighton Healthy Smiles, along with other Livingston county doctors, are excited to have participated in the Gleaners Gold for Food fundraiser again this year.
The Gold for Food fundraiser is a program started by Dr. Bonine over 20 years ago. Participating dentists donate scrap dental gold from patients’ old crowns and restorations. These donations are processed at a refinery and the proceeds are donated to Gleaners Food Bank in Livingston County. The program has been running for 20 years and has contributed to over 750,000 meals for the hungry in our community. The 2019 Gold for Food program raised $$21,499.50 in donated gold, which was then doubled by sponsors, for a total of $42,999 this year. The grand total for the donations through the programs lifetime has been $359,748.58.
We are happy to help those in our community and hope everyone has a great holidays!
