What to Do When You Have a Dental Emergency

Stay calm — we’re here to help with your urgent dental needs.

Common Dental Emergencies We Treat

Avulsed Tooth (knocked-out tooth)

  • Primary teeth (baby teeth) should not be re-implanted to avoid damage to permanent teeth.
  • Permanent teeth should be re-implanted as soon as possible to improve the chance of success.
  1. Hold the tooth by the crown (top), not the root. Gently rinse with milk or saliva.
  2. If possible, place the tooth back into the socket right away. Don’t worry if it’s not perfectly positioned.
  3. If you cannot place it back, store the tooth in milk or in your mouth between the cheek and gums.
  4. Call Brighton Healthy Smiles at (810) 227-6567.
